Concepts

Learning Habitat Families is an inspiring new center that cultivates a community of love and positivity around families and child-rearing. The space was designed and developed over 12,000 sq ft in Tai Kok Tsui, Kowloon. Within it, we incorporated a welcoming entrance with a reading area, the members club (a parent’s area with kitchen and lounge), the children’s playground with classrooms, restrooms, and offices.

Our integration of natural elements and greenery throughout the space harnesses the power of biophilia to reduce stress, enhance cognitive function, and improve overall employee well-being.

Healthy & Sustainable Features

As with all our projects, we incorporated healthy and sustainable concepts into our design, influenced by the WELL and LEED building standards. We introduced air purification into all the rooms with the addition of purified fresh air pumped into the space; the air drawn in from the outside is also conditioned to control humidity. We specified LED light panels throughout. All wood and plywood used in this project were FSC certified and formaldehyde-free, and all paints and adhesives had low or zero VOCs. The look for the center is minimal but fun with features in rustic materials that still feel fresh and modern. We themed the classrooms around the seasons, including animals from Hong Kong featuring in every scene, giving the children a sense of the outdoors.
