Rowena Gonzales is the founder and principal of Liquid Interiors, a Hong Kong interior design studio creating purposeful commercial environments and selected private residences. Her work spans private clubs, workplaces, hospitality, wellness, education and community spaces, as well as homes designed around the people who live in them.
She works with owners, operators, developers and private clients to create interiors that express a clear identity while supporting the people who use them every day. Rowena believes the most successful spaces do more than look impressive. They influence how people arrive, connect, focus, rest, recover and return. Her work brings together strategic spatial planning, wellbeing-led design, sustainable material choices and refined detail to create environments that support both human experience and long-term performance.
Rowena’s perspective is deeply personal. Seeing her niece and nephew become cancer survivors at a very young age, alongside experiencing her mother’s cognitive decline, made her acutely aware of the effect that our surroundings can have on physical comfort, emotional wellbeing and everyday life. It shaped her belief that thoughtfully designed spaces can support healthier routines, offer comfort during difficult periods, encourage communication and connection, and help people live and work with greater ease over time.
Guided by the principles of LEED and the WELL Building Standard, Rowena integrates wellbeing and sustainability from the earliest stages of a project—from user experience and space planning to material selection, lighting, technical design and delivery. Liquid Interiors has built an internationally recognised portfolio across Hong Kong, China and Europe, balancing contemporary sophistication with warmth, nature and a strong sense of place.
At the heart of Rowena’s work is a simple belief: the spaces around us shape how we feel, how we relate to one another and how well we are able to live and work. Through Liquid Interiors, she creates sophisticated, enduring interiors that are designed around the people who experience them.
