Our Residential Project Achieves BEAM Plus Certification – Mountain Retreat

BEAM Plus Interiors is a green label for fitted-out homes, run by the Hong Kong Green Building Council (HKGBC). It lets owners, designers and builders show the sustainability and quality of their home and set it apart from other flats on the market.

The assessment evaluates several key areas: how well the design team, client, and builders collaborate from design through construction; the use of fewer materials and reduction of waste; lower energy consumption once the home is occupied; reduced water consumption and improved discharge management; human-centred design and a better indoor environment; and genuinely new ideas through innovations and additions.

For homeowners, these criteria matter because they translate into super air quality and a healthier indoor environment, lower energy bills from more efficient systems, a home that is more attractive to buyers at resale, and potentially preferential mortgage or insurance terms.

1. We have some great news to share!

Our Mountain Retreat project has officially received BEAM Plus certification from the Hong Kong Green Building Council.

While our studio is no stranger to receiving green certifications for our work, this one is particularly special. BEAM Plus for residential interiors is a relatively new category in the industry. For an interior design studio to achieve it means our residential work has been strictly vetted and verified by an independent third party.

For the past 17 years, we have put health, wellness, and sustainability at the core of every single home we design. It is simply our standard. But having the Hong Kong Green Building Council officially certify this residential project is an excellent addition to our track record.

What does this mean for our clients? It goes beyond a certificate on the wall. For the homeowners, it means absolute certainty. They have independent proof that their home is engineered to look after their health and the environment.

To achieve this, the project was assessed across multiple strict categories:

  • Energy and water use: Certified systems that lower daily consumption and utility bills.
  • Materials and waste: Sourcing and construction management practices that meet real environmental standards.
  • Health and well-being: Indoor air quality and layouts designed for long-term vitality.

Raising the bar in Hong Kong An added benefit of a certified green home is that it increases the property’s market value. Buyers increasingly look for homes that prioritize wellness and efficiency.

We are proud of this achievement because it recognizes the hard work our team puts into every detail. More than that, we hope it helps push the entire design industry forward – raising the standard for healthy living across Hong Kong and Asia.
